Services

LABIOMEP has extensive experience in scientific research and communication of results. As such, we are particularly prepared to provide services to the industry/services and the overall community.

While we can tailor our services to the needs of the clients, our years-long activity allowed us to develop and establish a series of services to fullfill specific needs. The following list briefly presents the standard services we provide regularly (e.g. clinical gait analysis, isokinetic force assessment). We also present specialty services that can be built taking in consideration the particular needs of the cliente (e.g. validation studies).

For more informations, please feel free to contact the laboratory to find how we can assist.

Validation Studies

We apply our experience in technology development to validate the function and/or metrics of prototype devices, footwear or wearables.

Clinical Gait Analysis

We use the state-of-art motion capture techniques to analyse gait and provide clinically relevant outcomes for auxilliary diagnostic or therapeutic adjustment.

Report Example

Isokinetic Force Assessment

This is a fundamental assessment to understand muscle function and force balance. It can have a relevant role in injury prevention and return-to-sport readiness after LCA recovery.

Report Example

Postural Control and Balance

Identification of the body oscilations by means of stabilograms and statokinesigrams. It is an usefull tool to determine which biological control systems may be compromised, and to which extent.

Muscle Activity, Force and Rehabilitation

The study of muscule activity, either by electromyographic recording or force assessment, allow a clinician to better diagnose and follow the patient’s function rehabilitation.

Plantar pressure distribution

An inadequate distribution of force along the plantar surface may lead to undesired outcomes such as ulcers. Measuring in-shoe plantar pressures may also help develop new footwear solution for specific populations and/activities.

Bioenergetics
(land and water)

The determination of the VO2max and the VO2 kinetics, along with the energy cost and lactate concentration are usefull tools for the assessment and control of trainning, both in land and water-based sports.

Hidrodynamic Dinamometry

Determination of the active and/or passive hidrodynamic drag, either by directo measurment or by computational simulation.

Ergonomy and Postural Evaluation

Study of how the body segments are positioned in relation to each other, and how they interact with the environment. Particularly important in working environment to minimize the risk of work-related injuries and to optimize performance.
